Trump Goes Off On New Rant Against 'Train Wreck' Elon Musk
Elon Musk, left, shakes hands with President Donald Trump at the finals for the NCAA wrestling championship, March 22, 2025, in Philadelphia. Donald Trump has called Elon Musk a “train wreck” after his former “First Buddy” announced he was launching his own political party. The US president went on a lengthy rant about the world’s richest man and his ex-adviser last night, accusing Musk of going “completely off the rails” over the last five weeks. It comes after the tech mogul behind electric vehicle company Tesla and social media platform X told his followers on Saturday: “The America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”Musk also promised to “crack the uniparty system” in the States where the Republicans and the Democrats dominate. The move was a major snub to Trump, considering Musk donated $288m to the Republican’s campaign and was rewarded with a job leading the new cost-cutting unit, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).But the pair came to blows just months into the new administration over Trump’s trade tariffs, triggering Musk’s messy exit from the White House in May.And news of the billionaire’s new party evidently riled the president. He posted on his own social media platform TruthSocial that such a group would create “Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS”.Trump added: “Republicans, on the other hand, are a smooth running ‘machine’ that just passed the biggest Bill of its kind in the History of our Country.”The president’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” passed last week complete with heavy tax breaks for the wealthy and spending cuts.Musk has openly slammed the legislation over fears it will add huge amounts to the country’s deficit. But Trump claimed the Tesla boss is just protesting the president’s decision to scrap Electric Vehicle mandate. The president said: “I have campaigned on this for two years and, quite honestly, when Elon gave me his total and unquestioned Endorsement, I asked him whether or not he knew that I was going to terminate the EV Mandate – It was in every speech I made, and in every conversation I had.“He said he had no problems with that – I was very surprised!”Trump, who has installed long-term loyalists and friends into positions of power across his administration, then criticised Musk – who also owns SpaceX – for suggesting one of his close mates runs NASA.He said: “I also thought it inappropriate that a very close friend of Elon, who was in the Space Business, run NASA, when NASA is such a big part of Elon’s corporate life.“My Number One charge is to protect the American Public!”Musk later reposted a screenshot of Trump’s lengthy post along with a mocked up response from a fan which imagined the Tesla boss responded: “I ain’t reading all that. I’m happy for u tho. Or sorry that happened.”The rant comes shortly after Trump threatened to “take a look” at deporting Musk, who was born in South Africa, last week.He also claimed that cost-cutters at DOGE may have to look into Musk’s own subsidies. He said: “We might have to put DOGE on Elon. DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon, wouldn’t that be terrible?”Related...Trump's Treasury Secretary Disses Elon Musk After He Announces Rival Political PartyIn Latest Trump Snub, Elon Musk Announces He Has Formed New Political Party In The USElon Musk Predicts Prison 'For A Long Time' For Key Trump Insider
