Trump Mocked For Latest 'Disgraceful' Chat With Putin About Ending Ukraine War

Donald Trump and Vladimir PutinDonald Trump has been ridiculed for his latest “disgraceful” phone call with Vladimir Putin where he appeared to accept Russia intends to launch further, fatal attacks on Ukraine.Kyiv initiated a series of unexpected drone strikes on aircrafts deep inside Russia last weekend.It was a spectacular operation which had been planned for over a year, and it came after Moscow stepped up its indiscriminate bombing against Ukraine in recent weeks.Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has now suggested a ceasefire until he is able to meet his Russian counterpart in person for peace talks.However, according to Trump, Putin wants revenge instead.The US president, who has been trying to broker a peace deal between the warring nations for months, wrote on his TruthSocial account last night that he and the Russian leader spoke for more than an hour – but that the Ukraine war is no closer to a resolution.He said: “It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace. President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.”Trump’s post did not appear to suggest he pushed back at all on Russia’s plan to attack, even as the war is intensifying.It’s a far cry from Trump’s outburst against Putin in April, when he said he was “not happy” after Russia launched a series of deadly strikes on Kyiv, writing on social media: “Vladimir, STOP!”Last night, Trump also claimed he and Putin even discussed working together to tackle fears over Iran’s nuclear arsenal – despite Russia’s ongoing aggression against US ally Ukraine.So the president’s post quickly sparked backlash on social media as critics called Trump out for being too friendly with Putin – and for not trying to deter further violence.Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey wrote on X: “Trump spent 75 minutes on the phone with Putin.
