Zelenskyy Rejects Trump's 'Children Fighting' Analogy And Says Putin Is A 'Murderer'
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected President Donald Trump's idea that Russia and Ukraine were like two kids brawling at a playground.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected President Donald Trump’s idea that Russia and Ukraine are like kids at the playground who would be better off fighting for a while before being pulled apart.“We are not kids with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin at the playground in the park,” Zelenskyy said in an interview with ABC’s Martha Raddatz. “He is a murderer who came to this park to kill the kids.”Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected President Donald Trump's idea that Russia and Ukraine were like two kids brawling at a playground.Trump made the analogy during an Oval Office meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.“Sometimes you see two young children fighting like crazy,” Trump said. “They hate each other, and they’re fighting in a park, and you try and pull them apart. They don’t want to be pulled. Sometimes you’re better off letting them fight for a while and then pulling them apart.”He noted that he had relayed the sentiment in a call with Putin earlier in the week.“I said, ‘President, maybe you’re going to have to keep fighting and suffering a lot,’ because both sides are suffering before you pull them apart, before they’re able to be pulled apart,” Trump said. “You see in hockey, you see it in sports. The referees let them go for a couple of seconds, let them go for a little while before you pull them apart.”In an interview slated to air on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos Sunday, Zelenskyy said Trump and others who are “some thousands of miles away” don’t understand the suffering Ukrainians have experienced since Russia invaded the country in February 2022. He relayed comments he heard from a father who lost his family in a missile strike, saying Trump “could not feel fully and understand this pain.”Trump has openly criticized Zelenskyy a number of times, arguing he has held up a potential peace plan by refusing to cede parts of the country to Russia. Trump notably attacked Zelenskyy in a major clash during an Oval Office meeting, where the US president and Vice President JD Vance berated Zelenskyy and called him “disrespectful.”Related...'Silence Of America Only Encourages Putin,' Zelenskyy Claims In Attack On Trump AdministrationPutin's Top Diplomat Hits Out At Zelenskyy With 2 Damning Words Over Peace TalksTrump And Putin Won't Attend Peace Talks With Zelenskyy In Turkey
