Two Doors Down Star Doon Mackichan Just Made An Intriguing Claim About The Show's Future

Doon Mackichan as the infamous Cathy in Two Doors DownTwo Doors Down star Doon Mackichan has cast doubt on the future of the show, but hinted that fans may still have one reason to get excited.Following the death of Two Doors Down co-creator Simon Carlyle in 2023, it was widely believed that the show would not be returning, until last month, when writer Gregor Sharp announced he’d written a new Christmas special on his own, which will air at the end of this year.“It’s really exciting to be revisiting Latimer Crescent with all the regular cast for this new episode,” Gregor said. “Christmas is a time for getting together with friends and family and then becoming low level irritated by them so it feels like they’re the perfect group to celebrate the season with.”Pop the kettle on, Beth. The residents of Latimer Crescent are congregating at Beth and Eric’s to celebrate Christmas on @BBCiPlayer and @BBCOneDetails ➡️ https://t.co/qBXmPHwlHWpic.twitter.com/2hAaAJMwee— BBC Press Office (@bbcpress) July 17, 2025Speaking at a Smack The Pony event at the Edinburgh Fringe, The Scottish Sun reported earlier this week that Doon had told fans that this upcoming festive episode recently wrapped filming, and that she didn’t think the cast were “going to do any more”.However, she did tease that she and her co-stars would be taking part in a one-off live event at Glasgow’s iconic Hydro arena.“It looks like we’re going to do a live show next year at the Hydro, so that’s very exciting,” Doon shared.The final season of Two Doors Down began airing in November 2023, several months after its creator’s death.Gregor claimed once the season had aired: “We haven’t thought about the future [of Two Doors Down] too much.“We’re not at a point of thinking through what that would be. We’ve obviously got a move to BBC One so we’ll see how that goes and how the show performs.
