The cast of The White Lotus season threeAfter the wild ride that was The White Lotus season three, it’s fair to say that fans have been speculating about just what Mike White might have up his sleeve next.While you’d be right to assume that the creator of one of the year’s buzziest shows is already booked and busy, his next project definitely isn’t what we were expecting.It seems the School Of Rock writer is hungry for a major challenge, as he will be returning to Survivor for the landmark 50th season of the US reality survival show.Eight years after finishing as a runner-up in the season 37 finale, Mike will be heading into the wild with a cohort of fellow former contestants.Mike clearly holds his past experiences on Survivor close to his heart, after he cast two of his former co-stars in season three of The White Lotus.The Thailand-set instalment of the award-winning satirical series featured Natalie Cole and Carl Boudreaux, who competed alongside Mike White on Survivor’s special David Vs. Goliath season back in 2018.Mike White with Jennifer Coolidge at the premiere of The White Lotus season twoMeanwhile, fans are already wondering where in the world The White Lotus might take us next, after visiting luxury resorts in Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand in past seasons.Last month, it was teased that the next season could quite possibly be set somewhere with a little less sun.However producer David Bernad has seemingly ruled out that possibility, sharing on The Bill Simmons Podcast (via ScreenRant): “I feel confident we will never do a season in the cold.In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mike admitted there was “already pressure from HBO” for the next season, explaining: “When they have something they’re bullish on, they want to get it out there.”Mike White posing with his two Emmys in 2022The next season of Survivor is due to begin production in Fiji next month, before the show premieres in February 2026. So far, we’ve been teased with the tagline: “In the hands of the fans.” Survivor host Jeff Probst appeared live on CBS Mornings on Wednesday to announce the 24 returning players slated to compete in the 50th season – dating right back to season one, which premiered in 2000.The milestone season 50 of Survivor will welcome back previous contestants like Colby Donaldson, Aubrey Bracco, Ozzy Lusth and Cirie Fields, along with two players from season 49, which will air this autumn.The long-running reality show challenges castaways in a remote location to fend for themselves and compete in challenges in a bid to become the Sole Survivor.
