You may not have heard of it, but the £50bn workplace scheme invests in everything from big tech to hotels and windfarmsMore than 13 million people in the UK belong to it, and it looks after £50bn of their cash – but you may have never heard ofit. The National Employment Savings Trust (Nest) has grown to be the largest workplace pension scheme by member numbers, with more than a third of UK employees enrolled in it .It’s 20 years ago this year since a government commission recommended creating “a low-cost, national funded pension savings scheme” into which individuals would be “automatically enrolled”.
