It's a cult Scottish film beloved by many. But can it work as a stage musical?

In recent weeks the music of Big Country has played out incessantly in Perth as rehearsals for Restless Natives: The Musical draw to a close. But now, as opening night approaches, the refrain in the minds of the production team may be a little less melodic. Can this show follow on from the countless movies which have slid effortlessly onto the theatre stage? Or will it meet with the fate of other Scots transfer attempts such as Orphans and Local, which failed to capture the essence of the films?
