Mario Cantone in And Just Like ThatMario Cantone has hilariously revealed why he was practically begging to do more sex scenes in And Just Like That, despite initially being nervous to strip down for an intimate shoot with his onscreen flame, played by Sebastiano Pigazzi. While appearing on a recent episode of the Are You a Charlotte? podcast, hosted by his Sex And The City co-star Kristin Davis, the actor explained how the skin-baring scene came to be.He recalled: “When we were going into the second season, Michael Patrick King [the showrunner and executive producer] called me up and said, ‘Hey, just so you know, you’re gonna be getting a storyline, you’re gonna be getting a boyfriend’.” “So guess what, I got me a trainer, and I started working out. I have a backside shot. I’m in bed with Sebastiano, who I just adore. I’m the luckiest man in the world with that,” Mario continued.Though the actor was prepared for the scene, he admitted to being on edge ahead of the moment airing. He revealed: “The night before it dropped, I didn’t sleep. I was like, ‘These homosexuals are going to come after me.’ And then I saw it, and I went, ‘You know what? I look OK. And I’m old, and I’m next to him’.”Mario Cantone and Sebastiano Pigazzi in And Just Like That...To his surprise, the scene was more than a hit. “My DMs blew up the next day,” he noted, which encouraged him to request “more nudity” in the new season. “Before [we] started filming, I said to Michael, ‘I want more nudity’,” he said. “I said, ‘I like being sexualised at 65 years old. It’s good.’”Fans of And Just Like That will recall that in the show’s predecessor, Sex And the City, Mario’s character, Anthony Marentino, and his future husband Stanford Blatch (played by the late Willie Garson) didn’t exactly get off to the best start. The two were at odds for the original show’s run – but later tied the knot in the second Sex And The City spin-off film, which premiered in 2010.After Willie died in 2021, Mario’s character’s storyline and the pair’s onscreen marriage wrapped up in season two of And Just Like That, when Stanford moved to Japan to work with a client, and later divorced Anthony.Season three of And Just Like That premieres in the US on Thursday 29 May, so we should expect it in the UK the following day on Now and Sky.
