CNN’s Jake Tapper Says Public Is ‘Being Played’ By Trump Administration Over Epstein Files
CNN’s Jake Tapper is calling out the Trump administration for seemingly misleading the public over the Jeffrey Epstein files.  “While there might not be a list, there are certainly files that can be released,” Tapper said during a segment on his “The Lead” show on Tuesday. “There’s a trove of information that the Trump administration is right now refusing to share, information that could well point to the powerful folks who availed themselves of the sex trafficking victims of Jeffrey Epstein.”Tapper’s comments came after Donald Trump’s Justice Department and FBI released a two-page memo earlier this week declaring that no evidence was found that the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender had an “incriminating client list.” The memo caused a stir among Trump supporters and media personalities, among others, because the so-called list has been the subject of ongoing conspiracy theories. It also seemingly contradicted Attorney General Pam Bondi’s claim earlier this year that she had the bombshell list “sitting on my desk.”In the controversial memo, the DOJ and FBI also concluded that Epstein died by suicide in his New York City jail cell in 2019, with no evidence of foul play, which supported the FBI’s previous conclusions.Tapper went on to slam people in Trump’s administration for hyping up the controversy over the files ahead of Trump’s reelection, just to later declare the Epstein scandal “case closed.” “This isn’t going to go away,” the political commentator said. “The public, you, you’re being played for fools here.”Watch a clip from Tapper’s “The Lead” show below.
