Dani Dyer Becomes Second Strictly Contestant Of The Series Forced To Leave On Medical Grounds
Dani Dyer in 2019Dani Dyer has become the second member of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing cast forced to withdraw from the show before the first live show of the series has even aired. On Tuesday evening, the former Love Island champion – who had been paired with professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin on the new season of Strictly – shared that she had fallen during a training session on Friday and suffered an injury.Initially, she thought she had just rolled her foot, and hoped to be able to continue rehearsals once she recovered, but later tests revealed that she had actually fractured her ankle.“Apparently doing the Quickstep on a fracture is not advisable (!!),” she joked. “The doctors have said I am not allowed to dance so l’ve had to pull out of the show.“To say I’m heartbroken is the biggest understatement. I am so going to miss dancing with Nikita but will of course be watching closely and cheering all the couples on.”Dani Dyer and Nikita Kuzmin in their official Strictly photo-shootStrictly’s executive producer Sarah James also said: “Dani has brought so much passion, joy and enthusiasm to Strictly, and her partnership with Nikita was off to the most sensational start. Everyone on the show is incredibly sad that she’s no longer able to compete in this year’s series.“We send her all our love and best wishes for a swift recovery, and we very much hope to welcome her back to the ballroom in the future.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by BBC Strictly (@bbcstrictly)The full Strictly cast was unveiled last month, but just days later, Game Of Thrones actor Kristian Nairn shared that he would no longer be able to take part for “unexpected medical reasons”.Kristian was later replaced on the Strictly line-up by soap star and West End performer Lewis Cope, who has emerged as a frontrunner after last week’s launch show.At this stage, it’s still not clear if there are plans to replace Dani at the eleventh hour, or go ahead with 14 contestants instead of the planned 15.The first of this year’s Strictly live shows will air on Saturday night on BBC One.MORE STRICTLY:Strictly Fans Are Discovering That 1 Of This Year's Celebs Has More TV Dance Experience Than They RealisedStrictly Come Dancing Pro Dianne Buswell Announces She's Pregnant In Very Sweet VideoShirley Ballas Reacts To Thomas Skinner Drama During Strictly Come Dancing Interview
