Emma Thompson To Lead All-Star Cast In Audio Sequel To Sense And Sensibility

Dame Emma Thompson at the 2023 BaftasJust weeks after it was announced that Daisy Edgar-Jones would be leading a new adaptation of Sense And Sensibility, there’s even more exciting news for fans of Jane Austen.Three decades after Dam Emma Thompson first penned and starred in the Academy Award-winning film adaptation of Sense And Sensibility, she’s set to revisit the much-loved story with a brand new audio sequel, titled Becoming Meg Dashwood. As well as executive producing the audio series, the two-time Oscar winner will play Margaret Dashwood, the younger sister of the character she first played on the big screen 30 years ago.She’ll be leading a star-studded cast that also includesAdolescence star Erin Doherty, who plays Margaret’s younger self, and Bafta nominee Naomi Ackie in the role of her lover, Nelly.Erin DohertyNaomi AckieThe cast is completed by Silent Witness’Liz Carr, Emmy-winning Baby Reindeer star Jessica Gunning, Bridgerton’s Golda Rosheuvel, The Crown’s Imelda Staunton and even Dame Emma’s husband Greg Wise.The new story picks up where the 1995 movie left off, centring around the youngest Dashwood sister, Margaret, and is described in a press release as a “riotous, rebellious period drama about female friendship, sexuality and liberation”.The audio drama is written by Why Did You Stay? author Rebecca Humphries and features an original score composed by Natasha Khan, better known by her stage name Bat For Lashes.
