Guillermo Del Toro at the premiere of Frankenstein at the Venice Film Festival earlier this yearGuillermo Del Toro has made it clear we shouldn’t expect to see him relying on artificial intelligence in his future films.The Oscar-winning director is known for the elaborate and expansive visuals showcased in his movies, including Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy and The Shape Of Water, as well as his latest offering, a big-screen adaptation of Frankenstein starring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi.During a recent interview with NPR, the Mexican filmmaker shared his thoughts on the rise of generative AI use within the movie industry, insisting that it’s something he’s “not interested” – “nor will [he] ever be interested” – in.“I’m 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak,” he remarked. “The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, ‘What is your stance on AI?’. And my answer was very short.
