Jennifer Coolidge's Latest Role Sounds Like A Must-Watch For Girl Band Fans
Jennifer Coolidge on set with her new co-stars Rebel Wilson and Nicole ScherzingerJennifer Coolidge has been announced as a new addition to Rebel Wilson’s new comedy Girl Group.As the name suggests, the upcoming series centres around a former pop icon – played by Rebel – who is booted out of her former girl band’s reunion plans, and tries to break her way back into the industry by putting together a new group made up of unlikely teenagers.It’s now been announced the Emmy-winning White Lotus star will join recent Tony winner Nicole Scherzinger in the new series.But folks, we also need to talk about the show’s supporting cast.Rebel’s former bandmates will be played by pop royalty Melanie C, All Saints’ Shaznay Lewis and Nicole’s fellow Pussycat Dolls performer Ashley Roberts (whose actual girl group reunion plans were scuppered during the Covid pandemic) – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.Every person in this video is more surprising than the last https://t.co/FWa28UJVqy— Chris (@gobshitechris) October 27, 2025Also putting in an appearance in an undisclosed role is British acting great Sheridan Smith, alongside Derry Girls’ Jamie Lee O’Donnell, Marvel star Randall Park and comedian Guz Khan.The official synopsis for the show teases: “[Girl Group tells the story of a] pop-diva who’s been kicked out of her own girl group’s reunion tour and slapped with a sentence of court-ordered community service, who seizes the chance to stage a comeback by coaching a group of misfit teen girls for a major record label audition.”In addition to playing the lead, Rebel will also write and direct Girl Group, production on which is now under way.The show marks the Pitch Perfect star’s first TV role since the 2019 Australian series Les Norton.Jennifer, meanwhile, has appeared in the likes of Netflix’s The Watcher and lent her voice to the Disney animated sitcom Monsters At Work since her twice-Emmy-winning stint in the first two seasons of The White Lotus.Earlier this year, Nicole won her first Tony for her work in the Broadway show Sunset Blvd, having already nabbed an Olivier for her performance in the show’s West End production a year earlier.MORE TV NEWS:Thought The Stars Of Riot Women Looked Familiar?
