Kristen Bell Restricts Comments On Questionable Anniversary Post After Backlash
Kristen BellKristen Bell has restricted the comments on an Instagram post about her husband Dax Shepard that has landed her at the centre of controversy.Last week, the Nobody Wants This star posted a picture of herself and her husband of 12 years to commemorate their wedding anniversary.Alongside a picture of herself and Dax embracing one another, she shared a choice quote from the podcast host, explaining: “Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivised to kill you, I never would’.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by kristen bell (@kristenanniebell)After the anniversary picture – and its caption – went up over the weekend, many questioned Kristen for her choice of words, with some pointing out that her upload fell during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The death of woke is Kristen Bell thinking it was ok to post this to her 16 million followers, during Domestic Abuse Awareness month, when a girl or woman is killed by a man known to them every 10 minutes. pic.twitter.com/QJiEsG62My— Emma Szewczak (@EmmaSzewczak) October 19, 2025What a deeply weird Instagram caption! https://t.co/Z4VjYHpKxS— Ali B (@wtflanksteak) October 20, 2025Such an alarming thing for Dax to say and even more bizarre that Kristen found it “romantic” and repeated it for the world to hear. https://t.co/9XifhHz6yi— Terry (@BadgyalTerryG) October 20, 2025straight men jokes in the big year of 2025 still: “i kill my wife haha”!? bc damn don’t they ever evolve?? 😐 https://t.co/ntf9GeWhcM— zee. (@sapphicspiral) October 20, 2025That’s pretty tone-deaf. Violence against women is a real and widespread issue - not something to turn into a joke or anniversary quote. pic.twitter.com/x29ScSZHLZ— Isik Mater (@isik5) October 20, 2025Im just in shock. Why would you post this? Then Dateline said wait a damn minute. pic.twitter.com/mA0RoTYa1u— Ruthy (@ruthyvbz) October 20, 2025Since it went live, Kristen’s account has also limited who is able to upload comments on the Instagram post in question.HuffPost UK has contacted Kristen Bell’s team for comment.Kristen and Dax began dating in 2007, announcing their engagement three years later. However, they later said they would not get married until California overturned its ban on same-sex marriage, which happened in June 2013, with the couple finally tying the knot three months later. The pair share two daughters, 12-year-old Lincoln and 10-year-old Delta.Last week, while attending the premiere of Nobody Wants This season two, Kristen was reminded by a reporter for Entertainment Tonight that her wedding anniversary was only days away.“Oh my god, it’s my anniversary!” Kristen suddenly realised after the reporter presented her with leading questions about the following day’s date. “You know I don’t remember that!”The Frozen star added: “Oh shoot! I’m so glad that you told me… but we are having a date night tomorrow. What a curveball you threw me!”Kristen Bell forgetting her own wedding anniversary has us in TEARS. 😭 pic.twitter.com/JqEpQLIMqK— Entertainment Tonight (@etnow) October 17, 2025MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS:Tom Blyth Apologises For 'Embarrassing' Cillian Murphy BlunderGreen Party Leader Zack Polanski Shuts Down Jeremy Clarkson's 'Personal Attacks'Kim Kardashian Regrets This 'Odd' Photo-Shoot With Justin Bieber When He Was Still A Teenager
