Major Boost For Farage As Mega-Poll Predicts Reform Will Be Twice As Large As Any Other Party

Nigel Farage's party would take 290 seats if a general election were held tomorrow.Nigel Farage’sReform UK would be in touching distance of a working majority if a general election were called today, a new mega-poll has found.Researchers at More in Common polled more than 11,282 Brits in June and found voters would make Reform the largest party in the Commons with 290 seats. They would be just 36 MPs short of being able to form a majority government.Labour comes in second in the poll with 126 seats, meaning they would lose 285 seats they won just a year ago during their landslide victory in the general election.Thirteen cabinet ministers would also lose their seats according to this projection, including deputy PM Angela Rayner, chancellor Rachel Reeves, home secretary Yvette Cooper and chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Pat McFadden. The poll found 36% voters were turning away from Labour due to broken promises and U-turns, while 31% pointed to the failure to deliver on the cost of living and 27% on their changes to winter fuel allowance.Just 60% of Labour’s 2024 voters would still support them if a general election were held now while 11% would go to Reform and 8% to the Lib Dems. The Conservatives would be in third place, with a mere 81 seats – only a few extra MPs than the Liberal Democrats, who would secure 73 seats.Meanwhile, the SNP would gain 33 MPs, taking them up to 42 out of 57 available Scottish seats in parliament. The Greens would secure a further three taking them to seven MPs in total, and Plaid Cymru would stay on four.More in Common’s UK Director Luke Tryl said: “It is an unhappy Birthday for the prime minister, his personal approval has hit an all time low, while Britons blame him rather than his chancellor for the welfare mess and think he has lost control of his party.”But he noted Reform are the “big winners from the government’s failures”.“Although we are a long way from an election and much will change between, Nigel Farage’s party are demonstrating that they are now close to the level where they could command an outright majority. Britain’s political landscape has transformed entirely from just a year ago,” Tryl said. The poll was conducted between 13 and 30 June, just before the government had to water down its unpopular welfare cuts to appease Labour rebels.Related...Reform UK MP James McMurdock Gives Up Party Whip Over Covid Loans AllegationsNigel Farage's Vision For A Reform UK Government Leaves Everyone Scratching Their Heads'Highly Contagious' New Covid Stratus Strain Has Become Dominant In The UK – Here's Its Most Distinctive Symptom
