Meghan Markle Speaks Out On *That* Viral 'Baby Mama' Dance Clip
Meghan Markle Meghan Markle has spoken out about that viral clip of her and Prince Harry dancing ahead of their daughter Lilibet’s birth – and it sounds like we’ll be seeing a lot more behind-the-scenes glimpses of their life together.Appearing on Emma Grede’s Aspire Podcast, Meghan asked the podcast host if she’d seen her “Baby Mama” dance, alluding to the video of her taking part in the social media trend where heavily pregnant women dance to Starrkeisha’s Baby Mama. The Dragons’ Den star and Skims co-founder responded that she had seen the video “like 20 times”, and added that it was Meghan “in a way that we kind of haven’t been able to see you before”.Emma continued: “I did like a little secret cheer... Like I wanna see that happiness and that honesty and that ‘I don’t give a f**k’ kind of thing.”Meghan went on to say the video – which was praised by plenty of fans, but lambasted as “cringe” by some critics – was a “really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life – a real, authentic, fun life – that’s happening behind the scenes”.“I’m just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms,” she added. The Duchess of Sussex had marked her daughter Lilibet’s fourth birthday earlier this month by sharing a series of heartwarming posts on social media, including photos of herself and Harry with their daughter, as well as the video of the couple dancing ahead of Lilibet’s arrival. In the video, a heavily-pregnant Meghan dances to Baby Mama, a song popularised on TikTok, while a hoodie-wearing Harry comically busts a move as he glides across the shot.“Four years ago today, this also happened,” she wrote in the caption for the video. “Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work – there was only one thing left to do!”The Duchess of Sussex disabled comments on her Instagram posts, but that didn’t stop people from weighing in when the clip became more widely shared. While many praised the couple for having fun, there were some who took the opportunity to suggest it wasn’t real (Meghan has been at the centre of fake pregnancy rumours for a number of years now).In response to Grazia reposting the video, one reader said: “At that stage (three times for me) it’s not just having a bump – it’s having carried that for nine months, it’s at the head engaged stage, you feel so heavy and weighed down mentally as well as physically – the last thing you want to do is dance round the waiting bed. Sorry do not believe.”“I agree you can’t dance around like that at all!” added another commenter. But there were plenty who jumped to Meghan’s defence and enjoyed seeing the couple having fun together.“I actually love this. I’m not a fan, but there’s been so much crap written about their pregnancies. Hope this silences the haters!” said one commenter.“Love this on so many levels. Anyone who calls her fake clearly hasn’t seen this video, this is as real as it gets. Every woman who’s hit 40 weeks with no baby in sight knows this exact feeling. Pure joy, humour and truth in one reel.”Related...Does Meghan Markle's Dancing Really Help Induce Labour? Finally Agreed On A Baby Name?
