Rivals Star Alex Hassell Had A Chaotic Way To Make THAT Tennis Scene Less Awkward For Castmates

Alex Hassell RivalsRivals, the Jilly Cooper book-based show that exploded onto our screens in 2024, is known for a few things: beautiful country houses, bristling ’80s moustaches, and yes, a whole lot of sex. With that comes plenty of nudity, including a scene in the first episode involving naked tennis. Alex Hassell, one of the pantsless performers on the court, recently spoke to British GQ about the unusual way he psyched himself up for his first nude appearance on the Disney+ hit. Alex HassellSpeaking to the publication, the actor said he felt the crew were “nervous” around the moment on set. “Everyone’s like, ‘There’s a naked actor... no one look, no one talk about it,’” he shared. “We finished the scene, and no one said a thing.” But Bella McLean, Alex’s co-star, pointed out that he did “the most famous thing ever” following the scene. “He broke the ice by doing a cartwheel naked across the tennis court,” Bella said. “It was amazing, because suddenly everyone really relaxed and had a really good time.” Alex said, “I think I horrified a few of the people behind the monitor.”He’s not the only one to try some stunts on Rivals. David Tennant, who played Lord Tony Baddingham on the show, said he’d injured himself twice on set, once during an enthusiastic bedroom scene.“My knee I smashed up diving onto a bed, to indulge in some sexual ecstasy,” he revealed in the interview.“Not good timing. Smashed my knee,” he told Cosmopolitan.“And then I cut my arm open in a scene that was very violent. Spoilers – I don’t want to say too much more than that.
