Russia Offers UK Unsolicited Advice While Claiming New Sanctions 'Reek Of Inertia'

Vladimir Putin's embassy in Britain has just offered the UK some unsolicited advice on sanctions...Russia has torn into the UK’s latest “meaningless” set of sanctions against the state – while also advising Britain to stop issuing such punishments.  The government unveiled 30 new sanctions against Russian finance, military and energy targets on Tuesday, including the Kremlin’s shadow fleet and underwater intelligence gathering. Two UK residents operating a network of shell companies and handing profits to Russia have also been sanctioned.British prime minister Keir Starmer said the government knows Britain’s sanctions are “hitting hard” and that they will continue to “strike right at the heart” of Russia’s war machine. The new crackdown comes as Russian leader Vladimir Putin continues to drag his heels over potential peace talks with Ukraine. Just this week, he ordered further devastating attacks on Kyiv, killing at least 23 people. On Wednesday, the Russian embassy in the UK tried to undermine the latest sanctions in a post on Telegram by accusing Britain of using “feigned and misplaced theatrics”.The embassy said the list of targets from the UK “have become quite meaningless” and are “marked by a dwindling and increasingly eclectic international cast of characters, coupled with questionable spelling.”“The entire exercise reeks of inertia and lack of creativity,” it claimed. “Contrary to claims of the British leadership, such measures will continue to have no effect on the Russian economy, let alone its political course.”It then issued some unsolicited recommendations, saying: “We advise the British officials to finally heed the counsel of their transatlantic patrons and recognise the futility of persisting with ineffective and unlawful sanctions.“They do not harm Russia, but rather the reputation and economic welfare of the United Kingdom itself.”Actually, experts at think tank the Atlantic Council claim the Russian economy is finally starting to buckle under western sanctions. The UK was expecting to unveil a list of coordinated sanctions with the rest of the G7 members this week following their summit in Canada. However, after briefly saying it was a “mistake” to ever kick Russia out of the G8, Donald Trump unexpectedly left the conference early. That meant his scheduled fact-of-face meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy was cancelled and the Ukrainian president also left early, without speaking to journalists.☝️ We advise the British officials to finally heed the counsel of their transatlantic patrons and recognise the futility of persisting with ineffective and unlawful sanctions. They do not harm Russia, but rather the reputation and economic welfare of the United Kingdom itself.… pic.twitter.com/lA2OMMyWie— Russian Embassy, UK (@RussianEmbassy) June 18, 2025Related...US Embassy Says What Trump Won't After Russia's Most Brutal Ukraine Attack YetDemand For Artificial Limbs In Russia Soars Amid Major Putin 'Failure', UK SaysTrump Says Kicking Russia Out Of G7 Was A 'Very Big Mistake'
