Sharon Stone Says She Told Michael Douglas To 'Step Outside' In Heated Fight
Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone together in 2009Sharon Stone is telling all about her tumultuous relationship with Michael Douglas, claiming the two had tension even before they became co-stars in Basic Instinct.“Michael Douglas did not want to put his bare ass out on the screen with an unknown,” Sharon said in an interview with Business Insider published last week.“And I understood that. He wouldn’t even test with me. But that was also for a different reason; we had an argument prior to that.” Sharon said the dispute in question began during a Cannes Film Festival, when the two were sitting with a group and Michael “was talking about someone and their kids”. “I really, really knew this person he was talking about. So I said something and he responded to me, saying, ‘What the fuck do you know?’” Sharon recalled, claiming: “It was in regard to a father-child relationship. Clearly, it triggered him.“So, he screams this at me across a whole group of people. And I’m not the person who goes, ‘Oh, excuse me, superstar’. I pushed back my chair and said to him, ‘Let’s step outside’. That’s how we first met.” The two, indeed, took things outside, according to Sharon’s account. She said she “explained to him what the fuck I knew about this family he was speaking about, and that I was best friends with the children and the parent”. Apparently, the two then parted ways “amicably,” but “I wouldn’t say as best friends”. “So, fast forward to casting Basic Instinct, I don’t think he wanted me to be his co-star,” she alleged. Sharon then said their initial encounter worked well for the relationship in the movie, because she “was not rattled if he yelled at me”. “That worked very well in our dynamic,” the Casino star shared. “Eventually, we became the greatest of friends, to this day. I admire him tremendously.”Allen Burry, a representative for Michael Douglas, disputed parts of Sharon’s story when asked for comment. From left: Sharon Stone, Michael Douglas and Jeanne Tripplehorn of "Basic Instinct" at the 45th Cannes Film Festival in May 1992.He told People magazine on Monday that Michael was “very surprised” by her recollection, as the actor “doesn’t remember any argument in that timeframe”. “[Michael] actually only remembers seeing and meeting Sharon for the first time when he saw [director] Paul Verhoeven’s screen test of her for Basic Instinct and [the actor] said, ‘Absolutely, she’s the one,’” the rep shared. He added that the two were at Cannes and spent time together, but they’d already completed Basic Instinct by then. “And by the time they’d done the movie, they were friends,” he insisted. Reps for Sharon Stone didn’t immediately respond to a HuffPost request for comment. READ MORE:Sharon Stone Hits Out As She Claims She Was Dropped From A Simple Favour Sequel 'For No Reason'Sharon Stone Shares Brutal Response Studios Had To Her Barbie Movie IdeaSharon Stone Opens Up About Dating App Encounters, Including A Few Users And Losers
