Summer Penis Could Be The Heatwave Side Effect None Of Us Are Talking About
Banana in jeansThis summer has been remarkably hot – heatwaves rolled in almost back-to-back, leading to harsh gardening conditions and reports of ripe blackberries as early as June. But according to Dr Peter Fotinos, a medical director at Male Excel, ’tis also the season for “summer penis”.Warm spells, he says, may “tip the balance for men who already have borderline circulation, blood pressure, or sleep quality.”Dr Fotinos added that though the season “doesn’t cause erectile dysfunction on its own... it can make symptoms flare”. What is summer penis? The term was coined in MEL Magazine eight years ago. It’s described in the publication as “seasonal dick fluctuation” – or having a larger member in the warmer months due to higher blood flow. But, as with “Ozempic penis,” doctors have told HuffPost UK previously that this is just an illusion and not an actual increase in size. And for Dr Fotinos, the aesthetic effect of heat on people’s genitals is only half of the equation. The other side of “summer penis,” he explained, may be erectile dysfunction. After all, our sleep is usually harmed by hot weather. “If you’re tossing and turning, your testosterone can dip, leaving energy and libido flatter,” the doctor explained. Then, there’s water to consider. We’re more likely to become dehydrated in the summer ― “If your body is a bit dried out, there’s simply less blood available to deliver a strong response,” Dr Fotinos advised. Even enjoying a beer garden in the heat may have drawbacks, he continued. “A couple of pints now and then is one thing, but regular excess creates poor-quality erections by undermining the very plumbing that supports them” ― it affects both your blood and the messengers in your brain that tell that blood where to go.How can I get rid of the negative effects of “summer penis”?Some of the advice, Dr Fotinos said, is simple: drink more water, don’t overdo it with the alcohol, try to experience outdoor morning light to help regulate your circadian rhythm, and keep your bedroom as cool as you can. If issues keep happening for weeks, the expert says you should see your GP. “Erectile issues are often a circulation story. Treat the blood vessels well and you tend to treat the problem at its root,” he ended.Related...Men Are Reporting 'Ozempic Penis' – But Experts Say It’s Not What They ThinkEver Noticed Small Penises In Old Paintings?
