Travis Kelce's Dad Shares 'Beautiful' Way His Son Proposed To Taylor Swift

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce’s father is sharing new details about his son’s sweet engagement to Taylor Swift, which the couple announced in a joint Instagram post Tuesday. Ed Kelce – in an interview with Cleveland’s ABC affiliate News 5 – revealed that his son proposed to the pop star at a garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, just over two weeks ago, a little over two years after they began dating.“He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine,’” Ed Kelce said.“They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful.”Ed Kelce said he was at an open practice for the Philadelphia Eagles – his son Jason Kelce’s former team – when he got a FaceTime call from the couple following the proposal, which involved a massive diamond engagement ring that experts value at hundreds ofthousands of dollars.“I knew what they were going to say, and they, you know, let us know,” said Ed Kelce, who added he’d been speculating the proposal would happen “months ago” during last year’s NFL season.The couple announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post on Tuesday. Ed Kelce said his son was going to delay popping the question until this week “to make it a big special event,” but he thinks Swift may have gotten “a little antsy”.“And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event ... when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you,” said Kelce, who noted that Swift’s father – Scott Swift – told the NFL star the same thing.He said the newly engaged couple recently met up with him and Donna Kelce, the NFL star’s mother, for a “wonderful” dinner in Kansas City to watch ESPN’s docuseries The Kingdom, which looks at the Chiefs’ quest for a three-peat last season.“To just watch the two of them, just crazy about each other. It’s truly kinda neat,” he said.Ed Kelce said he’s “as prepared as you can be” for their wedding, adding that he looks at his son the same way that the Swifts probably look at their daughter.“This is still the little kid they raised at home,” he said. “Yes, they’ve both had a lot of success in their endeavours, and they get a lot of notoriety and a lot of attention, but they’re still the same people that we raised.
