Walton Goggins Admits 1 White Lotus Co-Star 'Didn't Get' Him
Walton Goggins as Rick in The White LotusWalton Goggins has admitted that he and one of his former White Lotus co-stars didn’t always see eye-to-eye on set.The Emmy nominee played Rick in the most recent season of The White Lotus, and has made no secret of the fact that his character’s loner tendencies often spilled over into his real life during the seven months he was shooting in Thailand. In a new interview with Cultured magazine (yes, the same outlet he did that eye-popping Speedo photoshoot for), Walton revealed that this occasionally led to him clashing with another member of the cast.He recalled: “Someone I worked with on The White Lotus didn’t fully understand my process. My character – Rick Hatchett – he’s isolated. So during filming, I was isolated. I liked mirroring that, but it was emotionally difficult.”Recalling how the first season of Fallout premiered during the filming of White Lotus, Walton continued: “One day, this actor I was working with – nice guy, good actor – came up to me and said, ‘You’re brilliant in Fallout. Please tell me you had a good time making that’.“I just stared at him. Because he didn’t get it. I don’t care how good you are – if you don’t understand that there’s a world beyond the script, if you don’t give yourself over to it, then you’re missing something profound in this work. This is the drug.“I said, ‘No. I play a guy who’s lived for 200 years and seen the worst of humanity. Every day was fucking horrible’. He just stared back at me like, ‘Okay, wow’.”Walton Goggins at the premiere of The White Lotus earlier this yearWalton isn’t the only member of the White Lotus cast to open up about disagreements behind the scenes.Jason Isaacs made headlines earlier this year when he revealed: “There were alliances that formed and broke, romances that formed and broke, friendships that formed and broke. It’s a long period of time for people to be away from their family with an open bar and all the wildness being in Thailand allows.”The former Harry Potter star added: “I can’t pretend I wasn’t involved in some off-screen drama. Dave [Bernad, executive producer] has seen it before, twice, and so has Mike [White, showrunner].“I can’t speak for them, but I imagine they think it feeds into the on-screen drama, and they might well be right.”All three seasons of The White Lotus are available to stream on Sky and Now.MORE WHITE LOTUS:21 Best Behind-The-Scenes Stories From The White Lotus Cast About Their Time On SetHere's Why White Lotus Fans Think There Could Be Beef Between Walton Goggins And Aimee Lou WoodWalton Goggins Had A Very Different Reaction To That SNL Sketch Aimee Lou Wood Found So 'Mean'
