A Play, A Pie & A Pint’s Spring season concludes with The Inquisitor by Peter Arnott
Push aside, for the moment, the central arguments for reprising Peter Arnott’s play The Inquisitor – it’s cleverness, its heightened resonance given today’s conflicts – and consider another thought. On first launching, back in 2006, Arnott had to survive a series of almost surreal circumstances which strongly suggest he gets another shot at a staging. The Inquisitor, virtually a monologue in which a silent prisoner is being interrogated, was set to be produced at Glasgow’s Oran Mor theatre. But just before curtain up, the writer’s luck collapsed like cheap panto scenery.
