Anna Wintour Reveals How She Really Feels About The Devil Wears Prada Almost 20 Years Later

Anna Wintour at the premiere of Wicked last yearAnna Wintour has shared her take on the film The Devil Wears Prada for the first time.The outgoing Vogue editor is widely considered to be the inspiration for the 2006 film’s main antagonist Miranda Priestly, who runs a fashion magazine with a tight fist and is known for her signature hairstyle and penchant for wearing sunglasses.While the publishing giant has largely remained tight-lipped about the film, which starred Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, she was recently asked about it during an appearance on Vogue’s podcast The Run-Through.Asked if she was “hurt” by the film before later “embracing it in a certain way”, Anna admitted: “I went to the premiere wearing Prada, completely having no idea what the film was going to be about.“I think that the fashion industry was very sweetly concerned for me about the film that it was gonna paint me in some kind of difficult light.”Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears PradaPraising Meryl’s “fantastic” performance, the Met Gala organiser continued: “I went to see the film, and I found it highly enjoyable and very funny. It had a lot of humour to it, it had a lot of wit.“I mean, [the actors were[ all amazing. And in the end, I thought it was a fair shot.”Meryl previously made light of the speculation when Anna interviewed her for a video on Vogue’s YouTube channel back in 2018.Asked who the “most challenging woman” she ever played on screen was, the Oscar winner remarked: “Ooh!
