Fox News Reporter Asks Karoline Leavitt What We're All Thinking About 'Epstein Hoax'
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is probably used to tough questions from journalists. But she seemed a little taken aback by one that she was asked on Thursday by Jacqui Heinrich of Fox News. And, yes, it was about Donald Trump’s recent handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case. After Trump’s DOJ and FBI heads issued a memoclaiming there is no evidence that the convicted sex offender had a “client list” he used to blackmail powerful figures, the president dismissed the idea as a “hoax” and called Epstein truthers “weaklings” who are doing the Democrats’ work.“There’s been a lot of discussion about the Epstein files and the president’s comments yesterday calling it a ‘hoax,‘” Heinrich noted before bluntly asking Leavitt to “clarify which part of the Epstein ‘hoax’ is the ‘hoax’ part?”Leavitt’s response was more pointed than anything Trump has claimed himself, but could still be summed up as “Democrats are bad, m’kay?”“The president is referring to the fact that Democrats have now seized on this as if they ever wanted transparency when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein, which is an asinine suggestion for any Democrat to make,” Leavitt began.“The Democrats had control of this building, the White House, for four years, and they didn’t do a dang thing when it came to transparency in regards to Jeffrey Epstein and his heinous crimes,” she said. Here’s a clip of the exchange.Reporter: The president called it a hoax. Which part of the “Epstein Hoax” is the hoax part?Leavitt: The president is referring to the fact Democrats have now seized on this… The president has been transparent and followed through on his promises to the American people. pic.twitter.com/K0VoQF8X6i— Acyn (@Acyn) July 17, 2025Leavitt’s explanation wasn’t well-received on social media, however. The Dems aren't the ones seizing on this - MAGA is demanding answers for what's been promised to them for so many years.— The Great Gig in the Sky (@thegreatgig8) July 17, 2025The White House’s explanation of the Epstein files makes absolutely no sense. Democrats didn’t “do a dang thing” with the Epstein files, Leavitt says — but Dems are now somehow behind the files? Those same files allowed Bondi to determine there should be no further charges — but… https://t.co/iES4Ah1s0i— Justin Glawe (@JustinGlawe) July 17, 2025So the hoax is that dems are against pedo’s 🤔— Matthew Thomas (@MattThomas2021) July 17, 2025Reporter: Why did Trump call the Epstein files a hoax?Karoline Leavitt: https://t.co/QwuwSGm7pvpic.twitter.com/rqo60b7b8R— House Homeland Security Committee Democrats (@HomelandDems) July 17, 2025Of course shes not actually answering the question. It's also entirely possible that neither she nor Trump actually knows what the definition of the word hoax. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest 😂— Brandon SanGiovanni (@TheBrandalorian) July 17, 2025Credit to her for being able to say all that with a straight face— Akash Maniam (@ManiamAkash) July 17, 2025Just so it's clear:Epstein was arrested in 2006, sentenced in 2008, and re-arrested in 2019—all while @realDonaldTrump played golf, threw parties, and dodged questions.— Frank C (@FrankC164) July 17, 2025Which part of telling his followers to forget about Epstein because if they don't then Trump doesn't need them anymore is the transparency part? pic.twitter.com/rMzjGcwzyM— Melissa (@Proudmimi12) July 17, 2025Maybe one of the reporters could just ask when did Pam Bondi first learn that Donald Trump was in the Epstein files?— Laurence (Larry) Boorstein (@LarryBoorstein) July 17, 2025
