Pedro Pascal Was Originally Cast In The New Horror Film Weapons
Pedro Pascal at the premiere of The Fantastic Four: First Steps earlier in the summerBetween the latest season of The Last Of Us, plus leading performances in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Materialists and Eddington, it’s fair to say that Pedro Pascal has had a bit of a busy summer. It turns out, though, that he almost made an appearance in another of the year’s most anticipated new releases.Back in 2023, Pedro was cast as one of the parents in the chilling new horror movie Weapons, which centres around a school teacher whose entire class (bar one pupil) suddenly disappears one night. The four-time Emmy winner was originally cast as Archie, one of the dads whose child vanishes, with the role eventually going to Josh Brolin instead. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Zach Cregger explained that shortly after Pedro was cast in the role, there were a series of setbacks that meant he couldn’t take it on in the end.“I had a whole different cast for this movie,” Zach said. “And then we had the strike, and then Pedro Pascal’s schedule threw us into turmoil. I had to recast the entire movie.”He insisted: “I bear no ill will towards anybody. We just kept getting delayed and delayed. It’s like a domino effect. So I had to start over again.”Because of the rescheduled shoot, Alden Ehrenreich took over a role that Brian Tyree Henry was supposed to play, while Julia Garner became the new lead, replacing Renate Reinsve, the Norwegian star of The Worst Person In The World, who is already receiving Oscar buzz for her performance in one of the year’s most-anticipated new films, Sentimental Value.Meanwhile, next year is already shaping up to be another busy one for Pedro, with the Star Wars spin-off The Mandalorian: And Grogu hitting cinemas, as well as Avengers: Doomsday, in which he’ll reprise his role as Mister Fantastic.READ MORE:Pedro Pascal Brands JK Rowling A 'Heinous Loser' In Light Of Supreme Court's Trans RulingBella Ramsey Has Some Strong Feelings About You Calling Pedro Pascal 'Daddy'Pedro Pascal Explains Why He’ll Never Shave Again After This Film: 'I Was Appalled'
