One Day Star Ambika Mod Says Comments About Leo Woodall's Success Were 'Not Personal'
Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall in Netflix's miniseries One DayOne Day star Ambika Mod has insisted that her recent remarks comparing her own career to that of her co-star Leo Woodall were “not personal”.Back in May, the This Is Going To Hurt star gave an interview to GQ, in which she claimed that she and Leo “just don’t get treated the same at all”, despite receiving equal billing in their hit Netflix series.“I think we’re going to have very different careers,” she said, suggesting she is “always going to come up short” comparing herself to Leo, “because there’s a privilege there that I don’t have access to”.“Being brown is not particularly easy in this industry,” she lamented. “You don’t get the same opportunities. You don’t get the same ascension.”Ambika Mod at the Newport Beach Film Festival in FebruaryOver the weekend, The Times published an interview with Ambika in which she was asked if she regretted speaking so candidly about the differences between herself and Leo.“Not really,” she responded. “I mean, it’s the truth!”Insisting the remarks aren’t anything she’s “not said to Leo’s face, by the way”, Ambika continued: “Obviously it’s not personal. It’s just the industry and the way that our society works.
