Miley Cyrus Reveals Why She’ll Never Take Relationship Advice From Her Mum Again

Miley and Tish Cyrus pictured together earlier this yearMiley Cyrus has decided to think twice before taking any relationship advice from her mother, Tish Cyrus-Purcell. Speaking to The Cut this week as part of a feature on the women in her famous family, Miley recalled having to learn the hard way after Tish passed along a questionable dating tip to her daughter. “Mum’s always wanted me to stay with the wrong guy ’cause they’re hot,” said the three-time Grammy winner, who was previously married to actor Liam Hemsworth, and also dated singer Cody Simpson and actor Patrick Schwarzenegger. Tish, however, was quick to refute Miley’s less-than-positive take. “That was great advice because after so many years, you’re kind of over it and you’re like... in a relationship,” she told the outlet. “At least you get to look at somebody that’s frigging hot!”After noting that her current boyfriend, musician Maxx Morando, “treats me really well and respects me”, Miley quipped: “I had to find someone who treats me with respect and then Mum never really put that on the top three of her must-haves. Mum was like, ‘They need to be tall.’” “My man’s hot as hell too. But my man also respects me,” she added. She wed actor Dominic Purcell, best known for his portrayal of Lincoln Burrows on Prison Break, in 2023. As for Billy Ray, he and model Elizabeth Hurley hard-launched their relationship on social media in April. Previously, Tish had opened up about her children’s respective romances in a June episode of the Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast, which she co-hosts with daughter Brandi. In it, she acknowledged that her daughters are “in such super healthy, amazing relationships”, before noting: “I think that they have been much more cautious in love than I was, and taken longer to make sure it’s the right person.”Speaking to The Cut, Brandi noted that her mother’s perspective on intimate relationships “has evolved” with time, after which Miley added: “That’s because she found someone that is hot and respects her.
