Jack O'Connell, Ralph Fiennes and Alfie Williams in 28 Years Later: The Bone TempleA new trailer has been released for the 28 Years Later sequel The Bone Temple, and if Danny Boyle’s film gave you chills earlier in the year, get ready to squirm all over again.The second instalment in what was planned as a trilogy of dystopian dramas is due to hit cinemas later this year, with Ralph Fiennes and teen actor Alfie Williams both reprising their roles in the new two-minute teaser.We also see more of Jack O’Connell’s Jimmy Savile-inspired cult leader character, who appeared in the twist ending to 28 Years Later, and is due to take more of a central role in the follow-up film.And while the first trailer for 28 Years Later made unsettling use of Rudyard Kipling’s poem Boots, this new clip similarly features a radio broadcast that only enhances the movie’s dystopian sentiments.Check out the 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple trailer for yourself below:28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will also feature Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Cillian Murphy, reprising his role from the very first 28 Days Later film, although he is not seen in the teaser.The Bone Temple was shot back-to-back with 28 Years Later, and while the first film in the planned trilogy was helmed by Danny Boyle, he handed over directing duties to Nia DaCosta for the next instalment.Nia is currently best known for directing the remake of Candyman and the 2023 film The Marvels.Danny previously teased Nia’s film will be rather different tonally from his, claiming: “The nature of the first film is about family. The second film is about the nature of evil. And you’re about to meet a lot more of them when it’ll be more appropriate to talk about them in the second film.”An official synopsis for The Bone Temple reads: “Expanding upon the world created by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland in 28 Years Later – but turning that world on its head – Nia DaCosta directs 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.“In a continuation of the epic story, Dr. Kelson finds himself in a shocking new relationship - with consequences that could change the world as they know it - and Spike’s encounter with Jimmy Crystal becomes a nightmare he can’t escape.
