Pierce Brosnan as Ron in The Thursday Murder ClubWhen it was first announced that Pierce Brosnan was going to play Ron in the film adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club, many fans of the original book series had questions.In Richard Osman’s best-selling novel, the character of Ron is described as a bald-headed devout trade unionist with a prominent neck tattoo, with one popular fan-casting site naming Ray Winstone as one of the top picks for the role.And it turns out, the former James Bond star had similar feelings, even after being offered the part.Speaking to the BBC in the lead-up to the film’s release on Netflix, Pierce claimed he “never asked” director Chris Columbus why he was chosen to play Ron.“I thought: ‘This is Ray Winstone, bro’,” he admitted, ultimately choosing to keep his concerns to himself.Ray Winstone“Don’t say anything Pierce,” he apparently told himself. “Just keep going.”Back in July, Richard defended Pierce’s casting in an interview with Empire, stating: “You have to do something unusual and different and interesting.
