'So Dedicated': Demi Moore Applauds Bruce Willis' Wife Emma Amid His Health Decline
Demi Moore and Emma Heming WillisDemi Moore has opened up about watching Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Heming Willis become a caregiver to the actor amid his continued health decline. The Ghost actor – who was married to Bruce for 13 years, and shares three daughters with him – told Oprah Winfrey on a recent episode of the veteran broadcaster’s podcast that there’s “no roadmap” for dealing with such a situation.“Being the ex-wife, even though our family is very connected, is an interesting position and so much fell on Emma to really figure this whole thing out,” Demi said.Emma is highlighting her time as a caregiver in an upcoming book titled The Unexpected Journey.Demi continued: “The most beautiful thing – and she talks about this in the book – was recognising the importance for caregivers, that they have to take care of themselves. And that if they don’t put that time into making sure that they’re OK, then they can’t show up for anyone else.”The Oscar nominee’s remarks arrive about a week after Emma revealed that she had to make “one of the hardest decisions” for her husband by moving him into a “safer” home away from her and their kids to be with his caregivers 24/7.Bruce’s family announced in 2022 that he had been diagnosed with aphasia — a condition that affects one’s ability to communicate — before revealing that his condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia, which can cause emotional problems, unusual behaviour and difficulty communicating.Rumer Willis, Demi Moore, Bruce Willis, Scout Willis, Emma Heming Willis and Tallulah Willis in 2019Emma recently described her husband’s brain as “failing him” three years after his retirement, and, while he’s “very mobile,” he has dealt with cognitive issues. In an interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, she hit back at comments about her care for the actor, explaining that caregivers are “up against ... judgment from others and criticism from others”.Demi told Oprah that she has “so much compassion” for Emma, who has two daughters of her own with Bruce.“There’s no way that anybody could have anticipated where this was going to go, and I really think she’s done a masterful job,” Demi said.“She has been so dedicated to forging the right path. She’s had equal amounts of fear and strength and courage in navigating this.”Demi added that she expects Emma’s book, which comes out next week, to be “very helpful for a lot of people” going through similar circumstances.READ MORE:Bruce Willis' Wife Takes On Critics After Sharing That He No Longer Lives In Their Family HomeBruce Willis' Wife Admits Moving The Actor Was One Of The 'Hardest Decisions' She's Ever MadeBruce Willis' Daughter Tallulah Responds To Criticism Over Instagram Posts Featuring Her Dad
