Stefan Dennis and Dianne Buswell on the Strictly dance floorStrictly Come Dancing star Stefan Dennis has announced that he will not be continuing on this year’s series.Earlier this month, the Neighbours legend was given a bye through to the next round of the competition after what he described as “a little bit of an episode with vertigo”.Having returned to the dance floor on Saturday night, he announced on Monday evening that he had been forced to pull out of the show due to an injury he has since sustained.“This morning I woke up to the most disappointing day of my time in my Strictly journey,” he explained. “Just when I had finally gained the confidence to do well with my dancing in the competition and achieve more great dances along the way, I was told that on Saturday I had torn my calf so significantly that I am now forced to withdraw from the show.“I can’t tell you how devastated I am to have to leave so prematurely especially, as there has been, and still is, so much love and support from everyone for both Dianne and myself.”He continued: “I owe both the Strictly family and Dianne [Buswell] a massive debt of gratitude for giving me the opportunity to fulfil my dream of being able to dance with my wife (when my leg is better).”Referencing his soap character, he then shared a special message for “all the avid Neighbours fans”, remarking: “It’s the same leg!”View this post on InstagramA post shared by BBC Strictly (@bbcstrictly)His professional partner Dianne Buswell – a fellow Aussie, who recently announced she’s pregnant with her first child – said in an Instagram post of her own: “Stefo I’m so sorry our Strictly journey was cut short just as that confidence was starting to grow. But you can walk away with your head held high.“You can go home to your wonderful wife put your hand out and say would you like to cha cha cha with me. The main reason for being on this show was to be able to dance with her and you can certainly do that now.”Dianne continued: “You are the kindest human I have ever worked with and I can always say I got to dance with the iconic neighbours legend Stefan Dennis or, as my dad calls ya, Paul Robertson.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by Dianne Buswell (@diannebuswell)Stefan is the third contestant to pull out of this year’s series of Strictly on medical grounds.Just days after being announced for the line-up, Game Of Thrones actor Kristian Nairn revealed that he’d had to withdraw on doctors’ orders, and was replaced by Lewis Cope. Then, with only days to go until the first live show, Dani Dyer confirmed that she also had to withdraw due to an injury sustained during training. Her spot on the line-up was then taken over by fellow Love Island winner Amber Davies at the eleventh hour.Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday night at 6.20pm on BBC One.MORE STRICTLY:Thomas Skinner Explains Why He Wishes He'd 'Never Done' Strictly Come DancingStrictly Star Lewis Cope Has His Say On His 'Muted' Reaction To Getting First 10 Of The SeriesDianne Buswell Hits Back After Hurtful Comment About Her Competing On Strictly While Pregnant
